Article on how to overcome ethical problems by providing a ethical evaluation form.
There are many ways that ethical issues can be prevented when carrying out research. One of the main ways is through a ethical assessment form. These forms ask questions that generally have yes or no answers with right and wrong answers. all the answers should be correctly answered yes or no for it to be an ethical piece of research. If not then changes should be made to the method or the way the resarch is being carried out to make it ethical.
At our very own university we use these forms before conducting any research to ensure that the way in which the information we will be gathering is done in a ethical manner.

All research at PBS must be completed within ethical guidelines.
For students with projects and dissertations, please use the form for students available below, and follow the guidelines (also available to download below). You will need to see your supervisor to gain ethical aproval for your proposed study.
Staff and doctoral students seeking ethical approval should download and complete the appropriate application form below and forward as an email attachment to sharman.rogers@port.ac.uk who will then manage the process of approval with the Ethics Committee. "

the ethical form is something we will all be familiar with. Ethical issues can be prevented by not taking risks, for example using a subject that may be offended or not suitable.
ReplyDeleteCharlie is correct as we have all had to fill out a ethical form for our INSAD coursework this semester.
ReplyDeleteThis is the link to the form we have all completed

Good article! However when doing research sometimes we may need to involve children or maybe mentally disabled people that aren't seen as being able to make there own decisions let alone filling out an Ethical Form. So this has to be given great consideration but I do agree that in 9 times out of 10 the Ethical Form will cover everything needed.
ReplyDeleteThe ethical form is filled out by the researcher. In the case with a child or person who is unable to make their own decisions their parents or carers would be the consenting party.
ReplyDeleteI think that the ethical form is a good way to make sure that all points are covered ready for when research is carried out. If something has not been completed then the researcher was unaware of it before hand, they can then make sure it is done. Its also a good way of understanding all of the ethical issues that could arise throughout research that may not be expected if the researcher has not fully investigated the project properly e.g. what has to be done concerning different types of people before research is carried out - children need consent from parents etc etc
